To celebrate National Coming Out Day, 20th Century Studios debuts a new trailer, poster and images for “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.” Inspired by true events, the film adaptation of the hit musical with the same title follows Jamie New, who is 16 and doesn’t quite fit in—instead of pursuing a “real” career, he dreams of becoming a drag queen.
The musical where the film was based was created by Dan Gillespie Sells and Tom MacRae inspired by the 2011 television documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16 directed by Jenny Popplewell.
Wikipedia says, the musical drama film directed by Jonathan Butterell (in his feature directorial debut) from a screenplay by Tom MacRae. It is produced by Mark Herbert, Peter Carlton, and Arnold Milchan.
The cast includes Max Harwood as Jamie New, Sarah Lancashire as Margaret New, Lauren Patel as Pritti Pasha, Shobna Gulati as Ray, Ralph Ineson as Wayne New, Adeel Akhtar as Iman Masood, Samuel Bottomley as Dean Paxton, Sharon Horgan as Miss Hedge, and Richard E. Grant as Hugo Battersby / Loco Chanelle.”
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is opens in U.S. theaters on February 26, 2021.
