Disney UK releases a heart-warming Pinoy-inspired Christmas advert in support of children’s charity Make-A-Wish.
The three-minute animated short features Mickey Mouse and was released on Monday (November 9). It tells the story of elderly Lola, her apo (grandchild), and the family traditions that have connected them through the years including parol-making and Simbang Gabi.
It begins in 1940 where young Lola was given a Mickey Mouse stuffed toy. After many years, she passes the same toy to her granddaughter.
Worried that the connection between Lola and her apo seems to be fading, the granddaughter surprises her one Christmas morning with a living decorated with festive parols reminding her of the yuletide seasons when she was young. She is then handed a gift box with her Mickey Mouse toy inside.
The Mickey Mouse toy in the advert is now available for purchase at the Disney Store and ShopDisney.co.uk. Proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish organizations.
The advert also highlights an original song “Love Is A Compass” sung by UK artist Griff. It is a charity track available for sale and all proceeds from every download before December 31, 2020 will also be donated to Make-A-Wish.
