Kumu streamer Carla Dela Rosa is set to launch her debut single titled “Torpe” in October. With words and music arranged by musician Junno Delos Santos, the new song talks about a guy who really likes someone but he is too shy to talk about and share with that person his true feelings.
Although the song would be her first-ever single, Carla is no stranger to music and the entertainment industry. She has been around the industry for more than 20 years, performing as a vocalist and a drummer for an all-female band. “Playing drums is my first love and true passion,” she said.
Carla’s musical training started at the age of 10 when she took voice lessons under the guidance of national artist Ryan Cayabyab. Through the years, she idolized and took inspiration from several international artists, including “King of Pop” Michael Jackson, “Queen of Latin Pop” Gloria Estefan, and “The Queen of Percussion” drummer Sheila E.
Her list of musical inspirations also includes artists Aaliyah, Dua Lipa, Erykah Badu, Faith Evans, H.E.R., Janet Jackson, Jorja Smith, Keisha Cole, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, and Snoh Aalegra.
During the 90s, a time when social media and streaming were not yet available, it was harder for people to showcase their talents and be recognized by a large audience. So Carla decided to join a beauty contest titled “TV Babe” on the noontime show Eat Bulaga. Although she did not win in the final phase of the competition, her participation introduced her to new opportunities.
Performing brought Carla to many places and let her travel the world for free while doing the things she is passionate about. She also got a chance to pose for the Philippine (May 2003) and Singapore (August 2010) versions of men’s magazine FHM, where she was recognized as one of the 100 sexiest women in the world.
Carla has her own family with one son, whom she considers as her source of strength. In the age of social media and streaming, she continues exploring new avenues where she can showcase her abilities. She was recognized as a PalabasTayo Wishlist Book 4 Top Performer and has already garnered a Kumu Blue Check and a Bronze Badge, proof that she livestreams sensible content on the platform.
“After that moment (of becoming a featured streamer), I decided to keep streaming on Kumu to share my talent, improve myself, and inspire other artists like me,” she shared.
