Nine drag queens from five different nations will be competing for the title of “Queen of the Mothertucking World” in the upcoming BBC Three and WOW Presents Plus series, RuPaul’s Drag Race: (RPDR) UK vs The World, premiering on February 1, 2022.
UK vs The World was officially announced by World of Wonder on December 21, 2021, with the official cast revealed on January 17, 2022; the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Holland, and Thailand are the competing nations in the debut season.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK alums Baga Chipz, Cheryl Hole, and Blu Hydrangea will be competing as the host nation’s ambassadors. They all competed in the series’ first season.
From across the pond, Drag Race Season 10 contestant and All Stars 4 finalist Mo Heart (formerly known as Monique Heart), and Season 2, All Stars 1, and All Stars 5 finalist Jujubee will be representing the US franchise. For her stint on the brand-new season, Jujubee now holds the record for the drag queen with the most appearances on the Drag Race franchise. The Boston, Massachusetts native has also appeared on the Drag Race spinoff series, RuPaul’s Drag U, and the World of Wonder drag queen singing competition, Queen of The Universe.
Canada’s Drag Race alumni, Jimbo and Lemon, join the season as the two queens from up north. Placing fourth and fifth, respectively, both of their runs in the series’ first season have been regarded as some of the best in the Canadian edition.
Drag Race Holland’s Janey Jacké will be the sole competitor from Holland. The 29 year-old drag artist touts two maxi challenge wins from her first run in the franchise.
Rounding up the star-studded cast, Drag Race Thailand sends its co-host, Pangina Heals, to represent Asia. Heals is the show’s only contestant to not have competed in any of the seasons she was a part of, as well as the first host of a series to compete on the runway.
Alongside RuPaul herself, Michelle Visage, Graham Norton, and Alan Carr return as regular panel members, with extra special guest judges Melanie C., Daisy May Cooper, Jade Thirlwall, Clara Amfo, Jonathan Bailey, and Michelle Keegan. Special guests Johannes Radebe and Katie Price will also be on the show.
