Award-winning superstar and BMG recording artist Idina Menzel has released her anticipated second single ‘Dramatic’ from her upcoming album Drama Queen, due for release August 18 via BMG.
‘Dramatic’ conveys a message to those who may fail to understand Idina’s larger-than-life personality, demonstrating that all the drama that comes along with her also comes with an even larger abundance of passion.
Speaking on the single, Menzel said: “’Dramatic’ is one of my favorite songs off the album that I wrote with Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters and Jim Elliot. The song is about embracing all the different sides of who we are.”
Co-producers, Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters) and Jim Elliot, are highly praised by Idina for helping her define the album as a whole with this song.
‘Dramatic’ delves deeper into the core theme and title of Drama Queen and encourages listeners to lead a passionate, fiery, and emotional life, as being a “drama queen” should be seen as a positive trait.
Menzel’s career took off when she won a Tony Award for her role as Elphaba, in the smash musical Wicked. Her voice can be heard as Elsa in Disney’s Oscar-winning Frozen, The film’s song ‘Let It Go’, voiced by Menzel, became an instant international phenomenon, winning an Oscar for Best Original Song and a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media. The track reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100, making Menzel the first artist with both a Billboard Top 10 hit and a Tony Award for acting.
