Tension, Kylie Minogue’s highly anticipated album is finally out. Released via BMG the new album includes the global smash hit singles ‘Padam Padam’ and the title track ‘Tension’.
‘Padam Padam’ quickly became a global viral sensation and song of the summer with 157 million global streams, four weeks in the UK Top 10, Number One in the UK airplay chart, and even calls for ‘Padam’ to be added to the dictionary.
‘Tension’ debuted in the UK Top 20 and Number 7 in the UK airplay chart in its first week of release, with TikTok users across the world similarly embracing the track.
Tension has received critical acclaim with Rolling Stone UK calling the album: “Brilliantly good fun. It’s soaring pop music with a huge amount of heart that brings big emotions to the dance floor – much like its creator.”
Commenting on Tension, Kylie said: “I started this album with an open mind and a blank page. Unlike my last two albums, there wasn’t a ‘theme’, it was about finding the heart or the fun or the fantasy of that moment and always trying to service the song. I wanted to celebrate each song’s individuality and dive into that freedom. I would say it’s a blend of personal reflection, club abandon, and melancholic high.”
To celebrate the release of the album, Kylie has opened a special pop-up shop in London stocked full of exclusive merchandise and products curated personally by Kylie – making it a must-do experience for all Kylie fans, collectors, and music lovers. The special store, which is housed in one of the British capital’s most iconic locations at 55 Regent Street, is open to fans from today to Sunday, September 24 from 10am-6pm each day.
Kylie’s glittering career has seen her amass sales of over 80 million records worldwide, five billion streams, and eight UK Number One albums. Her multiple awards include three BRIT awards, two MTV awards, and a Grammy. Kylie is the only female artist to score a Number One album and Top 10 singles in five consecutive decades in the UK.
