BMG’s newest short film, a transformation of Sergei Prokofiev’s beloved symphony Peter and the Wolf, has made its premiere in North America on the (HBO) MAX streaming platform. BBC Studios has secured distribution rights for all other countries.
An animated rendition of the beloved classic tale Peter and the Wolf featuring music and narration by multi-media artist and musician Gavin Friday, with artwork based on original illustrations by U2’s Bono, the film uses a special juxtaposition of traditional hand-drawn 2D animation combined with a physical set-built world, creating an enchanting and contemporary visual masterpiece.
This extraordinary retelling echoes the message of courage that is central to the famous classic, to help younger generations understand and navigate complex issues and emotions.
Alistair Norbury, BMG’s UK President, Repertoire & Marketing, said, “The magical combination of Gavin’s retelling illustrated by Bono’s animated drawings has been beautifully captured in this new version of Peter & The Wolf, which touches on themes of growing up, loss, courage, and our relationship with nature.”
Peter and the Wolf was produced by BMG and Blink Industries, alongside the Irish Hospice Foundation.
