Shangri-La Plaza, a long-time champion of world cinema, rolled out a special screening of summer’s hotly anticipated romantic drama Under Parallel Skies with the film’s Filipino lead Janella Salvador at the Red Carpet Cinema on April 17, 2024
Also starring Thai actor Win Metawin and directed by award-winning Filipino director Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, the film promises to captivate audiences with its poignant portrayal of cross-cultural relationships. This Philippine-Thailand-Hong Kong production follows the story of Thai bachelor Parin (Metawin) as he goes to Hong Kong to find his long-lost mother. He then meets and forms an unlikely bond with OFW and hotel employee Iris (Salvador), who helps him navigate love, heartbreak, and healing in a foreign city.
Filmed against the bustling backdrops of Hong Kong’s iconic Kowloon City, Peng Chau, and Tai O, Under Parallel Skies held its world premiere at the prestigious 17th Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong last March. Following its successful debut, the film had its nationwide theatrical release in the Philippines on April 17. Produced by 28 Squared Studios and Two Infinity Entertainment and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it’s also slated to hit theaters in Singapore and Thailand in May.
