“Inside Out 2”, the sequel to the 2015 film from Disney and Pixar, “Inside Out”, is coming to cinemas nationwide next week, June 12. It picks up from the last scene of the previous movie, with a bright, red button hinting at Riley turning 13– AKA the dreadful and equally beautiful stage of puberty.

The previous movie introduced viewers to Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust in the mind of 11-year-old Riley as she navigated the changes that came with moving cities. With “Inside Out”, cinemagoers were introduced to the idea of complex emotions– helping kids and parents alike talk about feelings and concepts like ‘core memories’.

WHAT IS HAPPENING? – In Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2,” Joy (voice of Amy Poehler), Sadness (voice of Phyllis Smith), Anger (voice of Lewis Black), Fear (voice of Tony Hale) and Disgust (voice of Liza Lapira) are awakened to an alarming reality: everything is changing now that Riley is 13. Directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen, “Inside Out 2” releases only in theaters Summer 2024. © 2023 Disney/Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

It’s demo day!
Now 13-years-old, Riley goes through her teenage years and takes her Emotions with her. In her mind’s Headquarters, a crew comes in and announces an upcoming demolition, making room for new Emotions, concepts, and even locations inside Riley’s mind, as seen in the trailer. This change is bound to shake her and her Emotions. What new things will she learn about herself? What concepts will she discover anew?

Every demolition is the beginning of a new construction, much like Riley’s ‘Belief System,’ a hallowed space filled with strings that are connected with Riley’s memories. A person’s belief system helps them make decisions and navigate the world. But sometimes, beliefs need to be broken in order to make way for new ones. As Riley’s old and new Emotions clash, her ‘Belief System’ will likewise be undergoing a demolition – viewers will just have to wait and see how it will affect her future decisions.

BELIEF SYSTEM – In Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2,” Riley’s Sense of Self is made up of all of her beliefs, each of which can be heard with the pluck of a string. Sadness (voice of Phyllis Smith) and Joy (voice of Amy Poehler) deliver key memories to this formative land. “Inside Out 2” releases only in theaters June 14, 2024. © 2024 Disney/Pixar. In relation to the beliefs she now subscribes to, Riley’s ‘Sense of Self’ will also have its introduction, representing the core of one’s truest inner self.

It wouldn’t be an accurate representation of a teenager’s mind without the chaos. For Riley, everything that doesn’t need to be addressed right now gets sent to the ‘Back of the Mind,’ which Riley can just think about later – as long as she doesn’t forget about them! There’s also ‘The Vault,’ a very secure and imposing place, where Riley keeps all of her secrets.

As Riley navigates the realities of her growing world, her Emotions, and the complexities that come with it, “Inside Out 2” will be a chaotically fun and refreshing movie that viewers of all ages can enjoy and relate to.

So, invite the barkada or the fam for a day at the cinemas filled with laughter and core memory-making. “Inside Out 2” is showing in cinemas nationwide starting June 12!
