Apothecary Productions proudly presents Emulsyon, a twin bill featuring two one-act plays, Loyalist Redux by Känakän-Balintagos and Indigo Child by Rody Vera. These compelling productions delve deep into the intergenerational trauma and political reverberations of Martial Law in the Philippines, through the complex relationships between mothers and sons.
Indigo Child tells the harrowing story of a son coming to terms with his mother’s painful experience being detained during the Marcos regime. Inspired by the real-life experiences of Adora Faye de Vera, the play examines the lingering effects of trauma resonating through the mother’s therapy and her son’s quest for resolution.
Meanwhile, Loyalist Redux presents the ideological clash between a Marcos loyalist mother and her activist son. This searing confrontation highlights the struggle between political beliefs and family bonds, offering a potent reflection on the corrosive effect of the dictatorship left on families.
In the spirit of promoting awareness on the lived experience of those gravely affected by Martial Law towards the next generation. Audiences can help with our goal. For every 5 tickets sold, a student or a beneficiary will get a chance to watch for free.
