A teacher in a small midwestern town suspects her husband of living a double life but things may be worse than she initially imagined. “Nancy Vandergroot’s (Nicole Kidman) picture-perfect life in quaint Holland, Michigan crumbles, when she and a friend uncover a twisted secret in their midst.”

Gael García Bernal as Dave Delgado, Jude Hill as Harry Vandergroot, and Matthew Macfadyen as Fred Vandergroot also star alongside Rachel Sennott (Bodies Bodies Bodies) as Candy Deboer, Lennon Parham (Minx) as Lennon, Isaac Krasner (Power Book III: Raising Kanan) as Shawn Graumann, and Jeff Pope (Interview with the Vampire) as Squiggs Graumann.

Lovia Gyarkye of The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that the true standout of Holland is Cave’s distinctive style, which masterfully crafts an unsettling vision of suburban discomfort. Teaming up again with cinematographer Pawel Pogorzelski, Cave employs claustrophobic framing, frenetic editing, and disorienting camera movements to create a fever-dream atmosphere. Alex Somers’ haunting score, blending ethereal tones with ominous undertones, heightens the tension.

Andrew Sodroski (Manhunt) wrote the screenplay of the film which premiered at the 2025 South by Southwest Festival on March 9, 2025.
