Hugh Jackman and renowned producer Sonia Friedman have announced the launch of TOGETHER, a bold new theater company aimed at bringing intimate and accessible live theater to audiences. The partnership, which also includes director Ian Rickson, focuses on creating fresh, engaging theatrical experiences that emphasize collaboration, equality, and the raw power of storytelling.
TOGETHER will offer a variety of performances, including fully rehearsed, full-length plays, readings, panel discussions, and other events in venues across the US, UK, and beyond. The productions will be staged with minimal décor to highlight the essence of live performance, allowing the actors and their craft to take center stage. A major goal of TOGETHER is to provide a genuine sense of community, with performances in smaller venues where audiences can sit close to the action, creating a more intimate experience.

A key part of the company’s mission is ensuring that productions remain affordable and accessible to as many people as possible. Additionally, TOGETHER is committed to offering equal pay for actors and shared creative credit, prioritizing collaboration and inclusivity in the creative process.
Sonia Friedman and Hugh Jackman shared their vision for the project, saying, “We wanted to create a company where actors, writers, and directors could experiment, explore, and take risks, free from the pressures of commercial theater. TOGETHER is about going back to basics, rediscovering the simple, thrilling essence of live performance.”
While the venture focuses on a more experimental and spontaneous approach to theater, Jackman and Friedman made it clear that this isn’t a move away from Broadway or the West End. Instead, TOGETHER aims to coexist alongside those more commercial spaces, offering something new for both artists and audiences. By embracing flexibility in scheduling and performance formats, TOGETHER hopes to create a dynamic environment where productions can evolve naturally, keeping the spirit of live theater alive and constantly changing.
With this new initiative, Jackman and Friedman are offering theatergoers a chance to experience performances in a way that’s fresh, raw, and full of energy.
