The beloved ogre and his quirky companions are coming to the country’s pioneer integrated resort, Newport World Resorts (NWR). Just in time for the holiday season, NWR’s production outfit, Full House Theater Company presents Shrek The Musical from October to December 2025 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
This upcoming production of Shrek The Musical in the Philippines is directed by Michael Williams, assistant direction by Cara Barredo, musical staging by Dexter Santos, choreography by Stephen Viñas, and music direction by Rony Fortich. Based on William Steig’s book Shrek! and the DreamWorks Animation film, the musical features music by Jeanine Tesori and a book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. Originally produced on Broadway in 2008, Shrek The Musical received eight Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, and won for Best Costume Design.
Open Auditions
As the show prepares for its 2025 opening, Newport World Resorts is looking for talented performers to bring these iconic fairytale characters to life. Open auditions for all adult roles will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Meeting Room 1, 3F, Hilton Manila. Registration is from 9 AM to 12 PM, with auditions taking place from 1 PM to 5 PM.
The production is casting for key characters such as Shrek, the grumpy yet lovable ogre; Princess Fiona, the princess with a nighttime secret; Donkey, the loyal and talkative sidekick; and Lord Farquaad, the short and ruthless ruler of Duloc. Other roles include Dragon, Gingy, Pinocchio, the Wolf, and various fairytale creatures, guards, and knights. Strong vocal abilities are required for all roles, and certain parts may also require dance skills.
Auditionees should prepare 32 bars of a song from a musical, and bring a minus-one track for playback. A current CV, 3R headshot, full-body photo, and completed registration form are required.
Rehearsals for Shrek The Musical begin on August 18, 2025, from 2PM to 9PM, extending to 11PM during Tech Week, with performances scheduled from October to December 2025. For inquiries, send an email to info@fhtcentertainment.com.
