It began with a paper clip. In a programming meeting decades ago, Charo Santos-Concio was asked to pitch a new show. Caught off guard, she spotted a paper clip on the table and said, “Here is a simple little thing that nobody notices, but maybe there’s a story behind it. Maybe someone used it to unlock a door and elope with a lover.” That spark led to an idea, a title inspired by a classic Tagalog-like kundiman, and the birth of Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK)—a show built on the power of true stories.

From that moment, MMK went on to become the longest-running drama anthology on Philippine television. For over 30 years, it brought to life real letters from Filipinos, telling stories of struggle, love, sacrifice, and hope. Generations grew up with it. Families watched it together. Week after week, it gave a voice to the everyday Filipino and reminded everyone that their story mattered.

Maalaala Mo Kaya Returns as a Limited Series
MMK is back, hosted by Charo Santos-Concio

Now, after a two-year pause, MMK is back.

Premiering April 24 on iWantTFC as a limited series, the new season will run for 13 weeks with 13 powerful episodes. Each one will stream 48 hours ahead and feature a director’s cut—bolder, more emotional, and more raw than ever. It’s the same MMK that audiences have loved for decades, but now with a modern, unfiltered touch that speaks to millennials and Gen Z, while still connecting with longtime viewers.

Hosted again by the beloved Charo Santos-Concio, the show aims to spark deeper conversations and emotional reflection, not just in homes, but online too. Viewers are encouraged to engage with each episode’s message and find pieces of their own lives in the stories told.

Among the first featured are the inspiring journey of The Voice USA Season 26 winner Sofronio Vasquez III, portrayed by Elijah Canlas, and the personal story of a member from the girl group BINI.

MMK’s comeback was announced by Santos-Concio at the ABS-CBN Ball. Her joy was evident as she shared the news—not just for the team behind the show, but for the loyal viewers who waited patiently. “In my heart, I knew babalik siya,” she said. The viewers, old and new, have always believed in MMK’s way of telling true-to-life stories. Many Gen Z kids grew up watching with their families. And they still remember what MMK stands for—good storytelling.

Aside from MMK, Santos-Concio continues to stay active, appearing in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo and returning to the big screen in the upcoming film Only We Know with Dingdong Dantes. “There’s no such thing as retirement,” she said. “As long as we’re breathing, there’s something to learn, something to look forward to.”

Maalaala Mo Kaya will premiere on iWantTFC on April 24, and April 26 on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
