20th Century Studios has released the first trailer and poster for Predator: Badlands, the latest entry in the long-running Predator franchise. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg (Prey), the film will hit Philippine theaters exclusively this November. It will be available in IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, ScreenX, and other premium formats.

Set in the future on a remote planet, Predator: Badlands tells the story of a young Predator, played by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, who has been cast out from his clan. He crosses paths with Thia, a mysterious character played by Elle Fanning. Together, they begin a perilous journey in search of the ultimate adversary.

At CinemaCon, Fanning revealed a major twist: this time, her character isn’t the one being hunted. Instead, she forms an unlikely alliance with the Predator. “You get to see him in a whole new light,” she said. In the trailer, Fanning warns, “You’re hunting something that can’t be killed,” hinting at the dangers ahead.

Trachtenberg, who revitalized the series with the critically acclaimed Prey in 2022, returns as director and producer. That film, set in the 1700s, followed a young Comanche warrior’s fight for survival against a Predator. Its success on Hulu led 20th Century to bring Trachtenberg back with full creative freedom. Instead of a sequel to Prey, he pitched several bold ideas—two of which are now full-fledged movies.

Badlands is one of two Predator films releasing this year. The second, an animated feature titled Predator: Killer of Killers, also comes from Trachtenberg. That story sends a Predator back through time to face warriors from across history, including a Viking, a samurai, and a WWII pilot.

The Predator franchise began in 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger taking on the alien hunter. Since then, the series has grown with sequels, reboots, and crossovers. But Badlands offers something fresh—an emotional story centered on a young, exiled Predator on a hero’s journey.
