New footage from Superman has given fans a deeper look at Krypto, Superman’s loyal yet troublesome dog. First shown at Cinema Con, the clip highlights Krypto playing with a wounded Superman played by actor David Corenswet, before dragging him to the Fortress of Solitude for healing. The 4:51 footage also reveals Superman’s automatons, robots that help him recover by delivering a dose of yellow sunlight to heal his injuries.

James Gunn, in a conversation with Fandango, shared that this footage doesn’t cover the movie’s full beginning but offers a glimpse of Superman’s unique bond with Krypto. The relationship is described as one where Krypto needs Superman, but Superman doesn’t need Krypto. Corenswet explained that while Superman loves Krypto, the dog—described as “the worst dog in the world with superpowers”—causes endless chaos, often destroying the Fortress of Solitude and causing trouble wherever he goes; “although there’s a great love and affection between Superman and dog, it’s honestly more trouble than it’s worth”, he added.
The new footage also features other cast mates including Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Superman’s love interest. Corenswet spoke with Entertainment Tonight about the iconic floating kissing scene, joking that it felt less romantic when a harness hoists you in the air by a your underwear.
David Corenswet, as the new Superman, brings a fresh take to the role. Raised in Philadelphia and a Juilliard graduate, he will be the first Jewish actor to portray the man of steel. Corenswet’s love for dogs is also well noticed, judging by photos online that features several adorable pictures with man’s best friend.
