The Force was strong in Tokyo as Star Wars Celebration 2025 launched at the Makuhari Messe Convention Center from April 18–20. Thousands of fans from around the world gathered to celebrate all things Star Wars, marking the 16th edition of the beloved global event.

The biggest surprise of the day was the announcement of a brand-new theatrical film: “Star Wars: Starfighter”, directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling. Set five years after The Rise of Skywalker, the movie will feature brand-new characters and explore a never-before-seen era of the Star Wars timeline. Production begins this fall, and the film is set to hit theaters on May 28, 2027.

Another major highlight was the upcoming film “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” coming to theaters May 22, 2026. Director Jon Favreau took the stage alongside stars Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver, and fan-favorite Grogu to give fans a sneak peek. The movie will follow the Mandalorian and Grogu on an epic new journey across the galaxy, expanding the story that began on Disney+ into its biggest adventure yet.

Behind-the-scenes footage and exclusive first looks made the crowd roar with excitement, setting the tone for what’s shaping up to be a thrilling future for the Star Wars universe.
