Repertory Philippines just announced that they are holding open call auditions for Carousel, its upcoming production of the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic.
They are in need of male and female triple threats who will be cast as leads. Parts in the strong ensemble members are also up for grabs. They must be singers who can move or dancers who can carry a tune.
All applicants must be musical theater performers from 16 to 60 years old. Singers must prepare music sheets or M1 to sing sixteen bars of two (2) classic Broadway songs in contrasting tempos. Dancers must also prepare the same singer requirements plus a 1-minute modern ballet or contemporary dance piece. Bring own music.
Open Call audition will be at the Opera House, 3657 Bautista St., Makati City on Thursday, November 28, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Registration closes at 6:00 p.m. Callbacks are scheduled for November 30, 2019 at the same venue.
Carousel is hailed by TIME Magazine as the best musical of the 20th century. It is about the whirlwind romance of carousel barker Billy and cotton mill worker Julie and the redeeming power of love.
The show will run from May 1 to 24, 2020. It will be directed by Toff de Venecia and will star Nikki Gil and Gian Magdangal.
